United States Postal Service

The USPS delivers mail in the United States. A key part of this delivery system are systems which read handwritten and printed addresses on envelopes, use optical character recognition (OCR) to convert them to text, and extract routing information from them. These systems now consist of 5 Linux computers per unit. There are now over 6000 Linux computers deployed throughout the U.S. reading the mail.
